Overhead

Who these terms cover

They cover staff of RSU 87 using Overhead on a district-managed iPad. Overhead is distributed privately through Apple School Manager and is not offered to the public, so there is no general public licence to grant.

What you may do with it

Use it for your work: show material on the classroom display, capture and mark up pages, keep boards for reuse, and save or share your own work through Photos or your Google Drive. The app is provided to you personally as an employee; it is not licensed for redistribution, resale or use outside the district.

Do not attempt to extract the app for installation on non-district devices. Not because the code is precious, but because a copy outside management receives no updates and no fixes, and the district cannot stand behind it.

Your responsibilities

• Student records. A document camera can be pointed at student work bearing student names. What you choose to save, upload or display remains subject to district policy and student-records law, including FERPA, exactly as it would be if you had photographed the page yourself. The app applies no judgement on your behalf.
• What you put on screen. The image goes to the classroom display. Whether it should be there is your call.
• Your Google account. If you sign in, uploads land in your Drive and are then governed by Google Workspace and district policy like anything else you own there.
• Keeping what matters. Boards live only on that iPad. See availability.

Availability, and what the app does not promise

Overhead is provided as is. It is maintained actively and in good faith, by a district department rather than a software vendor, and it carries no warranty and no service-level guarantee.

The district may update, reconfigure, or withdraw the app from managed devices as part of normal fleet management. Features may change between versions, and features gated behind management settings — such as class sessions — may be switched on or off by the district.

Google and Apple

Signing in to Google is optional. When you do, your use of Google Drive is subject to Google's terms and to your district Workspace agreement; Overhead is not a party to those. Likewise, the app is delivered through Apple's services, and Apple's terms cover that delivery. Apple's standard licensed-application end-user licence agreement applies to the app as distributed through Apple School Manager, except where these terms address something it does not.

Apple and Google are not responsible for Overhead, and neither provides support for it. Support comes from the RSU 87 Technology Department.

Privacy

What the app does with information is described in full, and in specifics rather than assurances, in the privacy policy. In short: it collects nothing, and nothing leaves the iPad unless you save or upload it.

Ownership

Overhead was built in-house and is owned by RSU 87. The boards, scans and documents you create with it are yours and the district's, in the ordinary way that work produced on district equipment is — the app claims no rights over your material and transmits none of it.

Changes to these terms

If the app changes in a way that affects these terms, they will be updated and the effective date above revised. Material changes — enabling class sessions being the clearest example — will be communicated to staff rather than left to be discovered here.

Where district policy takes over

These terms describe the app. They do not replace RSU 87's acceptable-use, data-protection or student-records policies, and where those say something different about your obligations, they govern.
